The Divine Pilgrimage
Episode I — London Threshold
The Divine Pilgrimage
The journey began at an unexpected threshold:
Platform 9¾ at King’s Cross Station —
a fictional gateway between worlds that has captured the imagination of millions.
From there the path continued to the British Museum,
where I planned to visit several objects associated with the Elizabethan mystic John Dee.
Soon after,
the pilgrimage carried me west along the Thames to Mortlake,
once home to Dee himself.
Flooded paths,
unexpected turns,
and a small discovery beside the river revealed something important very early in the journey:
The pilgrimage would not follow a fixed itinerary.
Instead,
it had already begun speaking in its own language —
through coincidence,
humour,
and the quiet symbolism that appears when you start paying attention to the moment you are standing in.
This was the first step.
